Life has become faster paced with the passing of each decade.  Multitasking has almost become a required skill to function at the same pace as the rest of society.  Bobby is sick and needs to be picked up early from school, Mom is the middle of an important business meeting so she jumps in her car, hooks up her bluetooth, rejoins the meeting via her phone, and is on her way.  After getting sick Bobby into the car Dad calls and says he needs her to stop at the grocery store to buy ingredients for dinner because he has clients coming over.  He emails her the list and which she opens on her blackberry on her way into the store.  Mom and Bobby arrive home where Mom, still on her bluetooth, makes Bobby a bowl of soup served with saltines and ginger ale.  Then she finishes her call right as Dad dashes into the house in a hurry to begin dinner preparations. Clients come over, dinner is eaten, then sleep, then they wake and do it over again up with whatever jumps at them on this particular day.

On this morning, Mom wakes up to see that Bobby has spilled the milk for his cereal all over the floor, he is already late so she shoos him off to get dressed while she cleans.  When the kitchen floor is milk free she runs upstairs to get ready.  She needs to be packed before leaving the house because she is leaving with Dad or a conference straight from work.  Half an hour later everybody is rushing off to their respective jobs or school.  With the swipe of a fob across the touchpad, the house is armed in 0.05 seconds and the family is off.   Continue Reading »
